Phases of Motherhood
Reflections inspired by the full moon
Motherhood brings different phases and stages to move through, with each period of time being different from each other.
In my own journey in motherhood i'm currently in the toddler phase. This is a stage that has its highlights including continuing to see my toddler grow everyday. As well as the harder moments during tantrums, meltdowns and testing boundaries.
When I looked at the full moon over the weekend, and earlier this week, it made me think about how the moon can teach us about ourselves and our identities.
Parts of motherhood can feel hidden. At different stages it might feel like a lonely journey. There can be parts of you that become exposed that you didn't realise were there. Other parts become hidden and it may feel safer and more comfortable to hide and distract yourself from how you're feeling about the experience you're having.
Just like the moon, sometimes you see it in the sky and sometimes it's completely hidden. Often when people see the moon they pause and look at it in awe, particularly when it's a full moon.
In motherhood there will be times when you view your motherhood journey with a lens of awe and strength. Other times it will likely feel like your energy is running low and you start the counting down for the hours and minutes until your child's bedtime begins.
All phases and feelings can be approached with compassion. There will be challenging moments. However, like the moon has phases, those challenging times will pass.
